Welcome to russellcountynewspapers.com, the online home of the Times Journal and The Russell County News-Register, a bi-weekly venture of Times Journal, Inc., in Russell Springs, Ky. Current issues of the newspapers can be accessed by clicking 'online editions' either at the top of the page, on the left menu or on the mastheads above.

The Times Journal was founded on October 13, 1949 by Andrew and Terry Norfleet and has been the top publication in Russell County since then, earning numerous Kentucky Press Association awards for writing, design and advertising. The publication is published on Thursdays.

The Russell County News-Register, which is published on Saturdays, began in its current form in January 2011 after the Times Journal acquired The Russell Register in Jamestown. The Times Journal combined the Register with The Russell County News, a weekend publication, to bring new news twice a week to the people of Russell County.

We also publish the Register Plus, which is delivered to all non-subscribers in Russell County, providing total market coverage to our advertisers.

Both newspapers are served by the same staff and are committed to bringing the people of Russell County and the Lake Cumberland area the top news, sports and advertising in the region.

The Times Journal/News-Register office is located at 120 Wilson St. in Russell Springs, directly behind the Star Theater and can be reached at 270-866-3191 while our Jamestown office is located at 314 Monument Square and can be reached at 270-343-6397.

We hope you enjoy our website and make it your home for local news and events!

The symbolic "Doughboy" statue stands in Monument Square in Jamestown. The "Doughboy" statue is one of more than 130 located around the country as memorials to the local communties' war dead, honoring those who gave their lives in service.
