Gerald Huckaby, 86, Columbia

Gerald Huckaby, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026. He was 86 years, 6 months, and 14 days of age.

Gerald was born in the White Oak Community of Adair County, on Thursday, October 26, 1939, a son of the late Obie and Rena Bryant Huckaby. Gerald was a proud US Navy veteran and a retired master electrician, having owned and operated alongside his brother, Bob Huckaby, B&G Huckaby Electric for most of his life. Gerald was a hard worker providing for his family and even rehabilitated his family farm into an immaculate landscape. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed boating and water skiing. Gerald was an avid Elvis fan and a “wheeler and a dealer,” always looking for a bargain. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Gerald is survived by his life-long partner of 26 years, Mary Lou West, of Columbia; his sons, Terry Huckaby (and Roberta Burton Furkins), of Columbia, and Gary (and Anjanette) Huckaby, of Butler, KY; three grandchildren, Ashley (and Hank) Specht, Jessica (and Joe) Smith, and Casey Lee (and Thomas) Huddleston; six great-grandchildren, Emmett, Juliet, Eden, Jackson, Emery, and Ivy; and a sister-in-law, Linda Huckaby.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob Huckaby and Jackie Ray Huckaby; and his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Donald Kipp.

Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Bernard Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bryant Cemetery, with full military honors performed by the DAV Chapter # 51.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Bernard Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be members of his family and friends.
