Russell County Public Library announces Ruff and Ready Readers

Ruff and Ready Readers invites children to read to trained therapy dogs once a month on Saturday mornings at the Russell County Public Library. Reading practice is critical for children who are beginning readers, especially for children who feel nervous and afraid of making mistakes when reading out loud. Ruff and Ready Readers alleviates this unease by providing trained therapy dogs from 4 Paws Training Academy in Jamestown to listen as children practice.

Therapy dogs and their handlers will be setup in RCPL’s Children’s Activity Room for 10 to 15 minute reading sessions. We have a collection of books available but you can read anything of your choice. The library invites all young readers to come out and spend some peaceful reading time with the dogs.

RCPL appreciates 4 Paws Training Academy for volunteering their time to promote literacy in Russell County! Our next Ruff and Ready Readers will be on Saturday, March 11 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
