Barbara Fern Hopper Jackson, 84, Russell Springs

Barbara Fern Hopper Jackson, of Russell Springs, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, April 1, 2023. She was 84 years of age.

Born December 1, 1938, at the “old homeplace”, she was a daughter of the late Eld. Selby and Eva Hart Hopper, and the eldest of three children.  Barbara was a familiar face to many people, having worked for years in retail at Ben Franklin, Shoe Show, Dutton’s Shoes, and most recently, Kmart.  She was a faithful member of Salem United Baptist Church.  Barbara enjoyed sewing and making quilts.  She also loved gardening and tending to her flowers.  She was proud to have been a member of the Sunset Homemaker Club for more than fifty years.  She will be sadly missed by her family, church family, and many friends.

Survivors include her two sons, Ronald “Ronnie” Douglas Jackson, of Russell Springs, and Robert “Robbie” Dean (and Marian) Jackson, of Russell Springs; a sister, Beverly (and Bobby) Jasper, of Windsor; a sister-in-law, Meridth Hopper, of Russell Springs; nine step-grandchildren, Cody (and Brittany) Severt, Leanna Severt, Colton Severt, JarredLee (and Chey) Severt, Jessalyn (and Jordan) Bunch, Kendalyn Severt, Clifford Severt, Thomas Severt and Alvin Severt; and thirteen step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Jackson, who passed away December 13, 2005, and a brother, R.B. Hopper.

Funeral services are 10:00 AM CST Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Eld. Glen Richardson and Eld. Ben Hammond officiating.  Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM CST Tuesday, April 4, and from 8:00 AM Wednesday morning, until time of services, at the funeral home.

Paul Barger, Nathan Roy, Andy Robertson, Preston Richardson, Clifford Severt, and Thomas Severt will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42503.
