Marion E. Record, Jr., Russell Springs

Marion E. Record, Jr., of Russell Springs, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Russell County Hospital.  He was a “Precious” husband, loving “Pop”, devoted “Poppie”, steadfast Christian and dedicated public servant.

Marion was born January 30, 1955, in Danville, son of Marion, Sr. and Joyce Irvin Record.  He was a member of, served on the board, and taught Sunday School at Coffey’s Chapel Community Church.  Marion and his loving wife, Cynthia began every day with coffee and prayer time.  He would say his day didn’t start out right if there was a change in their morning’s routine.  Marion was a faithful daily reader and studier of his Bible.

After his retirement from Commercial Refrigeration of Kentucky, Marion started a new career as deputy and court security officer with the Russell County Sheriff’s Department.

Marion was a committed family man.  His solid advice was often sought and freely given.  Marion and Cynthia loved spending their time together.  Their annual trips to Gatlinburg, riding around in the mountains were a favorite.  Marion was proud of his grandsons.  He enjoyed watching Josiah play football and cherished his time going fishing and working on vehicles with him.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Coffey Record; his parents, Marion, Sr. and Joyce Record, of Danville; his son, Sean (and Shari) Record, of Junction City; his daughter, June (and Joe) Branscum, of Russell Springs; his brothers, Bobby (and Vickie) Record, of Danville, Chris (and Susan) Record, of Harrodsburg, and Byron (and Jenny) Record, of Danville; and his grandsons, Jake Record and Josiah Branscum.

Marion is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Julius and Martha Record; and his maternal grandparents, Joe and Iva Irvin.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Kearns and Joe Branscum officiating.  Interment will be in Union Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Josiah Branscum, Scott Snuverink, Sean Record, Brandon Record, Jacob Record, Zack Record and Jake Record.  Last Call and End of Watch for Badge #1468 will be given by Russell County First Responders.
