Ronald Gene (Ron) Clayton, formerly of Jamestown

Ronald Gene (Ron) Clayton passed away after a long, hard-fought battle with lung cancer on Thursday, May 11, 2023. He transitioned peacefully at the home he shared with Nadean Wooldridge, his partner of many years, who was faithfully by his side.

He was an Army Veteran, having served his country in Vietnam as a member of the 101st Airborne.  His induction into the Army required signed permission from his mother due to his young age.

Ronald was born and raised in Jamestown, KY, which held a special place in his heart throughout his entire life.  He was baptized as a member of Greens Chapel Church at a young age, and his wish was that he be returned to his home and his final resting place.

He resided in Nicholasville, KY and retired from Gulf States Paper Corporation. There are countless friends and relatives there who will mourn and miss him terribly. Nadean remarked that most called him Smiley, because that was always his initial greeting: big, bright, heart-warming smile.

Ronald is preceded in death by his mother, Tootsie Clayton; father, Eugene Clayton; brother, Ernest Clayton; and Antoine Wooldridge, whom he helped raise.

He leaves to mourn his passing a son, Monte Clayton; partner, Nadean Wooldridge; grandchildren, Chase and Olivia; brother, Gilbert Clayton; sisters, Pauline Clayton Perkins, Velva Clayton and Reda Clayton, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
May the love and light that radiated from his big, bright smile comfort and warm us all through this difficult time.
