Ollie Maude Wooldridge, 91, Jamestown
Ollie Maude Wooldridge, of Jamestown, passed from this life into her Eternal Home on Thursday, July 27, 2023, having obtained the age of 91 years, 4 months and 22 days.
Ms. Maude was born March 5, 1932 in Jamestown, youngest daughter of the late Loren and Emmer Brockman Skaggs. She and her husband, Jack, owned and operated the Wooldridge Septic Tank Service, servicing Russell, Adair and other surrounding counties for many years. On breaks in the company truck, Ms. Maude would get ideas for words and melodies for gospel songs that she would love to sing at church. She grew up in church and her love for church stayed with her throughout her life. She had a ten year period where she never missed a service.
Ms. Maude was a determined lady and a hard worker all her life. Even in recent years, she would drive herself to the garden, hold on to her golf cart and hoe and pull weeds. Ms. Maude would welcome visitors to her home by either fixing them a meal or dessert or would make sure they left with something of her own. No one was able to just give her something without something in return. Ms. Maude was famously known for her peanut brittle and was said to just have a special touch when it came to making biscuits, fried apple pies and frozen pineapple pies. Many friends have hand made “Bed Dolls” made by and freely given by Ms. Maude. Not an unkind word known has ever been said about Ms. Maude.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joyce (and Mitchell) Pierce, of Jamestown, and Carolyn “Kay” (and Frank) Boils, of Campbellsville; her grandchildren, Brian Mitchell (and Shawna) Pierce, Steve (and Mandy) Boils, Chris (and Shelly) Boils, Amy Boils (and Jeff) Cox, and Amber Boils; her great-grandchildren, Brennan, Alivia, Brylan, Della Don, Beth, Jordan (and Jake), Caitlin (and Josh), Ethan (and McKayla), Fasha, Dylan, Keidlan (and Destiny), Sage, River, Kager, Abby, Noah, Adisyn and a Baby Girl Cox due in November; her great-great-grandchildren, David, Billy, Jake, Paisley, Hunter, Kaylea, Brian, Kaide and Layne; a host of nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Shirley Bell and Betty Richards.
Ms. Maude is preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Emmer Skaggs; her husband, William Adam “Jack” Wooldridge; her siblings, William Carl “Mutt”, Clarence “Crit”, Howard “Edder”, Ottis Lee “Cricket”, James Leslie “Buck”, Maggie, Martha Jane and Alta Mae; and her great-grandchild, Jayden Kendall.
