Sharon Elizabeth Benson, 78, Russell Springs

Sharon Elizabeth Benson, born on February 8th, 1945, in Dayton, KY, resided in Russell Springs, KY until her passing on January 4th, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Toby and Amanda Tolson, and her sister Becky Haun.

A natural-born caregiver with a generous and selfless heart, Sharon was married to Mike for 44 years. Sharon is survived by her husband, her two children Eric (Kelly) Diver of Punta Gorda, FL, and Nikki (John) Ladd of Lebanon, OH; stepson Michael (Katie) Abney of San Tan Valley, AZ; four grandchildren Ashley, Brittany, Reece, and Alexis; brother Jim Tolson and sister Jill Waddell. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Sharon was a dedicated and compassionate nurse who knew it was her calling early in life. She graduated from The Jewish Hospital College of Nursing in 1966 and worked as a nurse in Ohio, Florida, and Kentucky. In 2001, Sharon began her career as a Nurse Practitioner but always remained a nurse at heart. Nursing was her true love and her passion and for 57 years, she was lucky enough to call it her career. The thought of retiring never crossed her mind because she “just loves it.” Sharon’s vibrant and strong personality drove her to always strive for excellence while being tenacious when faced with a challenge. She is irreplaceable in so many ways and will be dearly missed.

Sharon was a faithful servant of the Lord and attended Jamestown Christian Church where she enjoyed worshipping and gathering with her fellow parishioners.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity; Sharon loved people of all ages as well as all animals. A Celebration of Life will be held at Jamestown Christian Church located on South Main Street in Jamestown, KY on February 10th, 2024, at 3:00 pm to celebrate Sharon’s life; all are welcome to attend and commemorate this wonderful woman we were all fortunate enough to have been blessed with.
