New sport takes hold

Spectators watched one of many matches held during the event.

A large, enthusiastic crowd gathered Saturday at the Russell County Middle School Gym for a preview of the newest sport in the local school system. The first Russell County Laker Wrestling Blue vs. Red Scrimmage was held to show skills learned so far in the new program.

Laker Wrestling Head Coach Scott Boreing offered support to wrestler LeAnn Rice.
