A ‘Bandtastic’ year!

The Russell County Mighty Laker Marching Band soared in 2024 and plans to thrive in 2025!
Looking back on a successful season, the legendary band earned major accomplishments and accolades.
At state competition, Laker Band earned second place in AAA at Regionals, fifth place in AAA semi-finals, and third place in AAA finals.
The band travelled to the Bands of America (BOA) competition in Chattanooga, TN October 5th and placed third in their division
Mighty Laker Marching Band has made it to KMEA state finals 14 times: 2003, 2005, 2009, 2001, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2031, 2022, 2023, 2024-with first place honors in 2003 and 2014.
Always involved in the community, the Laker Band performed at Christmas on the Square, the Russell Springs Christmas Parade, and most recently held a Christmas Concert at the ANC.
A spring concert is being planned for 2025
Many students from the band make it to Honor Band, All-District Band and All-State every year.
The band program conducts fundraisers almost every month to help with the cost of activities and appreciate any and all support as they strive to represent Russell County to the best of their ability.
