Jimmie Ray Varney, 83, Bowling Green
Jimmie Ray Varney, 83, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, was called to his Heavenly home on Thursday, February 6th at Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
Jimmie was born September 3, 1941, to the late Garland and Lola (Bostic) Varney, in Pike County, Kentucky. Jimmie was a retired coal miner from Eastern Kentucky. He loved to read the Bible and was of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda (Ramey) Varney; and three brothers, Tommy, Leroy and Eugene.
He is survived by his four children: Carmen (Greg) Purpus, Brian (Carol) Varney, Lynetta (Rick) Stiltner and LaWanda (Mike) May. He is also survived by four brothers, Garland, Jr., Ivan, Julius and Bruce; and three sisters, MaryJane, Gail and June. Jimmie has eight grandchildren, two step-grandsons, eleven great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandsons and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Jimmie will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. CST until 8:00 p.m. CST, at Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs, Kentucky, with a funeral service honoring the life of Jimmie Ray Varney through family memories to be held at 6:00 p.m. CST.
Visitation will resume after 8:00 a.m. CST, Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the funeral home, with last honors for Jimmie to be held at 10:00 a.m. CST, with Bro. Dean Seneff officiating. Burial will follow in Jamestown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmie’s grandsons, Nick, Patrick, Dean, Cecil, Jaxson and Xane.
