The Russell County Mighty Laker Baseball Team utilized assembly line-like scoring to defeat Cumberland County last week in only three innings.
The Lakers washed over the Panthers 19-4 Wednesday in rain, at home action at David Rexroat Field.
Two Lakers-Owen Loy and Tanner Stringer were responsible for driving in three runs each as teammates Mayes Gosser, and Mason Jasper each drove in two runs, and Jack Shearer racked up two RBI’s.

Russell County’s Mayes Gosser and crowd watched as a ball he hit soared high in the air last week against Cumberland County.
Showing all-around strength, Gosser got the “W” on the mound, and relief pitcher Parker Riggins finished out the game by allowing no hits and striking out one at the plate.
This past weekend Russell County defeated Johnson Central 2-1 in the opening round of the Kentucky 2A State Tournament play.
The Lakers lost 8-0 to Boyd County in the semifinals on Saturday and are back in action this week.
