Dreams come true

Dylan Presson lived his dream of playing at the Lake Cumberland Bluegrass Festival this past weekend.
There are people who come from other counties, other regions, other states to the annual Lake Cumberland Bluegrass Festival.
Dylan Presson is one of those people.
“I travelled all the way down here…been coming to this festival for about the last ten years,” Presson, of Connersville, IN, said. “I knew from the day I was sitting on the wooden benches watching it that I wanted to play that stage.”
And this past weekend, the young banjo, dobro and guitar player went from watching from the crowd to performing in front of it.
Presson’s talented Bluegrass group, the Silvertowne Band, made their Lake Cumberland Bluegrass Festival Friday.
“It means so much to me because it’s literally a dream come true,” he said. “I never thought it would be reality.”
Presson’s band was among the many to play at the 21st annual, two-day festival held at KOA Campground in Russell Springs.

The Silvertowne Band made their Lake Cumberland Bluegrass Festival debut this past weekend.
For Presson, a youth/assistant pastor, performing is more than just making music, it’s about making friends and memories.
“Bluegrass music is a very important piece of my life,” he said. “I’ve met so many friends…a lot of great people playing the music…a lot of people I wouldn’t have met if it wasn’t for Bluegrass. That’s made it even more special.”
Preston feels a purpose in playing Bluegrass.
“It’s a genre I don’t want to go away,” he said. “I feel like our generation is the ones who are supposed to keep it up, keep it going. We have a duty. If we don’t keep it going, who’s going to?
