The Russell County Laker Boys Basketball Team took the floor for the first time in the 2025-2026 season Monday, December 1-matching up against the Danville Christian Warriors.
While the Lakers showed flashes of talent, the score ultimately got away from them, losing 75-45.
From the jump, it was evident that the Warriors double-big combination of Ben Mikels and Leek Ateny were going to have a big game.
Mikels finished with 21 points while Ateny had 17.
For the Lakers, Maddox Shearer led the way with 14 points, followed by Dylan Stanelle with 10.

Maddox Shearer, left, blew past a Danville Christian player last week on his way to score two of his 14 points.
Gabe Browning chipped in five.
Cameron Bolin and Noah McMillan had four apiece, while Max Davis, Mannix Bell, Andrew Poteet, and Bryson Irvin each had two to round out the scoring.
