Charlene Taylor, 79, Nicholasville
Charlene Taylor, 79, of Nicholasville, Ky passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Hospital Lexington on March 12th, 2026 after a long illness.
She was born on August 13th, 1946 to the late Mary Sue Taylor and Charles Smith. She graduated from Jessamine County High School and later retired from Jessamine County Fiscal Court, where she worked as an emergency services dispatcher and data entry clerk. Charlene enjoyed crafts such as sewing and crocheting, and also dabbled in photography. Even in her later years she stayed on the go, usually with “the little one” in tow.
Charlene accepted Christ and was baptized into First Baptist Church Nicholasville and was a faithful member there for the majority of her life. For 20 years she was a member of Greens Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Jamestown, KY while her husband was the pastor there, returning to First Baptist after his retirement. She was a present and active member in both churches, attending bible study, morning worship and teaching classes. Charlene also taught the Minister’s Wives class for the Zion District Association and regularly attended the KMBA sessions each year.
Charlene is survived by her husband of 47 years, Rev. Albert Ray Taylor Jr, and their daughter Arleta Taylor (Jonathan Purvis) and her special little one whom they raised, Alethia Lawless. She is also survived by five sisters: Johnetta Walker, Gayle Smith (Jerry), Tina Canada (Derrick), Paula Taylor, and Dedra Mitchell, and one brother: Seibert Taylor (Cindy). She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Elizabeth Armstrong, Barbara Raglin, and Janice Kelly and one brother: Terry Taylor. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
We take comfort in knowing that Charlene is now in the arms of her saviour, Jesus Christ, whom she loved deeply.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 17th at First Baptist Church, 200 York St, Nicholasville, KY 40356. Visitation begins at 11:00am and the funeral begins at 1:00pm Eastern Standard Time, with dinner to follow.
