Barbara Elizabeth Hood (Kidd) Hale, 83, Russell Springs

 

Barbara Elizabeth Hood (Kidd) Hale, 83, of Russell Springs, Kentucky, passed away on April 1, 2026.

She was born on December 13, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late James Clifton Hood and Dorothy Houston Hood.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Terri Ann Kidd; and her first husband, Terry Kidd.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen Earl Hale; her daughters, Dorothy Riggs (Ricky Riggs) and Virginia Jolly, a brother James Clifton Hood, Jr, a sister Gloria Costanzo and her grandson, Ernest Riggs.

Barbara was a graduate of the University of Louisville, where she earned her bachelor’s degree, and went on to work as a Certified Public Accountant. She was also a graduate of DuPont Manual High School. She was an alumnus of Gunsite Academy (2005, Arizona at the Ranch) and Gunsite 150 in Indiana.

She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church, where her faith was a guiding part of her life. Barbara loved Jesus, loved people, and found joy in crafting and sharing her creations with others. She also had a deep love for music and especially enjoyed playing her cello. She had a generous spirit and a heart for connection, always taking time to encourage and care for those around her.

Visitation will be held on April 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST at First United Methodist Church in Somerset, Kentucky. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM EST at Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.

Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, her creativity, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends.
