Johnnie V. Popplewell, 67, Eli

Johnnie V. Popplewell, of the Eli Community, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the University of Kentucky Hospital.  He was 67 years of age.

Born on February 27, 1959, in Somerset, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Grant and Lorene Popplewell.  He was a retired farmer and school bus driver for the Russell County Board of Education.  He attended Pine Grove (Sunshine) Separate Baptist Church.

Johnnie is survived by his wife, Sherry L. Popplewell, of Russell County; his stepchildren, Amanda (Anthony) Wooldridge, of Lawrenceburg, Joshua Popplewell and Adam (Whitney) Johnson, of Russell County; his grandchildren, Skylor (Mykaela) Lee, Karlie Scaggs, and Levi Popplewell; his great-grandchild, Maggie Lee; brother, Ronnie (Trish) Popplewell; and nephew, Jason Popplewell.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a stepdaughter, LaTonya Popplewell Scaggs.

A graveside service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Pine Grove (Sunshine) Separate Baptist Church Cemetery.
